Colombian Government Declares Health Emergency over Yellow Fever Outbreak

Colombian Government has declared a national health and economic emergency following a deadly yellow fever outbreak that has killed at least 34 people out of 74 confirmed cases since the start of the year. The authorities are urging citizens to get vaccinated, especially ahead of Easter travel, and will now require vaccination cards for those entering or leaving the country as President Gustavo Petro attributed the outbreak’s spread to climate change. Furthermore, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has raised its yellow fever alert for South America, advising travelers to get vaccinated before visiting high-risk areas.
