CHAN 2024 Qualifiers: Ghana Coach Dramani Downplays Rivalry with Nigeria
Black Galaxies head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has stated that his team is prioritizing preparation over the historical rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria as they face off in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
The first leg of the high-stakes encounter will take place on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, while the return leg is scheduled for next Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
The winner of the tie will secure a spot at CHAN 2024, which will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
Speaking to CAFOnline ahead of the clash, Dramani emphasized the importance of staying focused on the present challenge.
“We focus on the team rather than the rivalry. While we respect the history, we are more concerned with our technical, tactical, and psychological preparation,” he said.
Dramani also highlighted the need for his players to handle the pressure of the fixture constructively.
“The players are reminded to channel the pressure positively, emphasizing collective performance over individual efforts,” he added.
The fixture adds another chapter to the storied football rivalry between the two nations, but both teams will have their sights set firmly on securing qualification for CHAN 2024.
