CBN Governor Vows to Cut Inflation as Nigeria Targets 7% Growth

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, says inflation is the biggest threat to Nigerians’ economic welfare and pledged to bring it down to single digits over the medium term. Speaking at the 2025 IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C., Cardoso stressed the need to stabilize household incomes and improve living costs across the country. Meanwhile, Minister of Finance Wale Edun outlined Nigeria’s plan to achieve 7% economic growth by investing in digital infrastructure and attracting private sector participation. Edun said the government’s reform programme has gained international recognition, adding that Nigeria is on track for resilient and inclusive growth despite global challenges.
