Benue Police Confirm Release of Abducted University Students
The abducted students of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), Benue State, have regained their freedom after being kidnapped from an off-campus hostel by gunmen. The Benue State Police Command spokesperson, Catherine Anene, confirmed their release, stating that three female students were held hostage but were eventually freed following relentless efforts by security forces. The victims are currently receiving medical care at Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi. While investigations continue, the Commissioner of Police, Steve H. Yabanet, praised the dedication of officers involved, including the IGP Intelligence Response Team from Abuja and other security agencies, reaffirming his commitment to apprehending the perpetrators of the crime.
