February 19, 2025

Nigerian singer Ayra Starr emerged as the joint top winner at the 2025 MOBO Awards held at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena, securing the Best African Act and Best International Act titles. She triumphed over global icons like Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, and Megan Thee Stallion to claim the Best International Act award.

Additionally, she outshone Asake, Rema, Tems, Burna Boy, and Tyla to win Best African Act, making history as the first female to win the category in 16 years.
