Nigerian singer Ayra Starr emerged as the joint top winner at the 2025 MOBO Awards held at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena, securing the Best African Act and Best International Act titles. She triumphed over global icons like Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, and Megan Thee Stallion to claim the Best International Act award.
Additionally, she outshone Asake, Rema, Tems, Burna Boy, and Tyla to win Best African Act, making history as the first female to win the category in 16 years. British rapper Central Cee became the most-decorated artist in MOBO history after winning Best Male Act for the third consecutive year, while British-Nigerian singer Darkoo took home the Best Female Act award, surpassing top contenders like RAYE, Jorja Smith, and Little Simz.
