Akwa Ibom Declares Friday Work-Free in Honor of Late First Lady

November 28, 2024

The Akwa Ibom State Government has declared Friday, November 29, 2024, as a work-free day in honor of the late First Lady, Patience Eno.
This decision, announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, aims to allow Akwa Ibomites and other well-wishers to pay their respects to the departed First Lady.

The statement explained that the work-free day was part of the final home-going program for Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno, who was the wife of the state’s governor as the day will provide an opportunity for residents to participate in the memorial service and other related activities in her honor.

The declaration of the work-free day was made in consultation with the bereaved family, ensuring that the public could attend the obsequies in Ikot Ekpene Udo, located in Nsik Ubuim Local Government Area.

The Akwa Ibom State Government extended condolences to the family and the people of the state, praying for the peaceful repose of the late First Lady’s soul in the presence of the Lord.
