AFCON 2025: Super Eagles to Kick Off Campaign Against Tanzania in Fez

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will begin their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign with a Group C clash against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania. The match is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, December 23, at the Complexe Sportif de Fès in Fez, Morocco.
Eric Chelle’s team will then face the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in their second group game on Saturday, December 27, also at the same venue. This fixture brings added intrigue, as Tunisia knocked Nigeria out of the Round of 16 in the 2021 edition of the tournament.
The Super Eagles will conclude their group stage matches against the Cranes of Uganda on Tuesday, December 30, again at the Complexe Sportif de Fès.
The 2025 AFCON format will see the top two teams from each of the six groups, along with the four best third-placed teams, advance to the knockout stages of the competition.
The Super Eagles, who are three-time AFCON champions, will look to secure a strong start in their quest to reclaim the title they last won in 2013. Fans are eagerly anticipating a thrilling tournament, with Nigeria considered among the favorites to make a deep run in Morocco.
